In preparation for any surgery, we first schedule an hour-long consultation for a thorough evaluation of the patient. Dr. Leeman-Goepp believes this time is meant to identify the underlying problem(s), understand the disease process, learn the treatment options, discuss outcomes and recovery, and formulate a plan that best fits your family without being rushed. We also provide accurate estimates and can schedule the procedure at the same time.

Surgeries are typically scheduled on a separate day but we do offer same day consultation and surgery in some cases in the Chattanooga area. The day of surgery, a veterinary nurse will meet with you and admit your pet to the hospital. Patients are given a pre-medication shortly after arrival to provide relaxation. Individualized anesthesia medications are provided based on the needs and health of your pet. Safe anesthesia and excellent pain control are of utmost importance to us.

All surgeries are performed by Dr. Leeman-Goepp. She will call you once your pet is in recovery to discuss the details of the procedure. We will stay in close communication with you until the time of discharge from our Chattanooga animal hospital. A detailed discharge summary will be provided that explains home care, medications, and follow up appointments. Dr. Leeman-Goepp will also communicate directly with your primary veterinarian throughout the process to ensure we are all aligned.
